Joseph DeJarnette
- Born: Mar 3, 1716, Abingdon Parish, Gloucester Co., Virginia
- Marriage: Mary Pemberton about 1739 in Virginia
- Died: 1791, Caroline Co., VA at age 75
General Notes:
Joseph lived to the ripe old age of seventy five. His will was recorde d on January 13, 1791. The record of this fact can be found in the cou rt minutes; however, his will apparently has not survived. Mary eviden tly died before Joseph, as her name is not listed along with Joseph'se state tax records, and Joseph's daughter, Susanna was granted probate of his will. Matthew Peatross, Richard Bridges, John Turner and Samue l Norment, all neighbors of Joseph, were appointed to appraise his est ate. At the time of Joseph's death, it seems that he owned 200 acreso f land, which was transferred that same year to his son in law, Thoma s Richardson. Seven hundred nine acres of land continued in the name o f Joseph Dejarnatt, and became the property of Joseph Dejarnatt II.
