Edward Mumford
From "Tidewaters of Virginia" Edward Mumford and his wife, Mary Watkin s, lived in Gloucester County, in Adingdon Parish. Edward patented lan d in 1674 at Tyndall Point, the point of land that is today known as G loucester Point. It has been said that John married Mary Mumford, thei r eldest daughter. It is known that Jean Dejurnat married Mary from th e Abingdon Parish Register records of the baptism of their children. H er maiden name is not known. An examination of the existing records, a nd of the accounts written by several researchers, leaves unanswered q uestions. None of the writers have indicated the reasons or documentat ions for thier assumptions.
Edward married Mary Watkins, daughter of Joseph Watkins and Elizabeth Stafford Purnell, before 1681 in Virginia. (Mary Watkins was born before 1666 in Virginia.) |
