Robert E. DeJarnette, the son of Daniel and his first wife Jane, live d at "Clifton", The house was built by Colonel John Martin, one of th e first representatives to the House of Burgesses from Caroline County . This, too was an imposing brick house of two stories with an Englis h cellar. The estate was left in trust to Robert by his father and con sisted of 1070 acres.
