Taken from the Tales of Mighty Mountrail, Vol 1, 1979: Carl was borni n Fergus Falls, Otter Tail County, Minnesota in 1884 and lived therefo r a time before coming to Williams County in North Dakota. In 1905he filed on a homestead in that county. He sold his homestead and bough t a farm in Bicker Township where he spent the rest of his life.
He married Irene Hogenson of Winger, Polk County, Minnesota. They ha d three children: Ardith (Mrs. Marlow Strain) living in Hager, Wiscon sin; LeRoy of Billings, Montana; and Clayton of Minot, North Dakota.
They joined the Norman Lutheran Church and were active in church worka nd also took part in all work for the betterment of the community. Th e Lockens have nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Carl pass ed away in 1965.
