John Spell
At the age of 18, John Spell received a received a grant of land fromt he Earl of Granville, Lord Proprietor of all lands in North Carolina. John was County Commissioner, overseer and active in public affairs. H e accumluated great wealth in real estate and he styled himself a "pla nter as most of his life was spent on his vast plantations. He died Oc tober 1784 and left a will naming his wife Elizabeth.
