1870 census Fall Creek Township, Henry Co., Indiana lists Alexander Pe rsonett, 33 yrs farmer, value of real estate 1,600; personal 1,526 b.O hio, wife Virginia E., 27 yrs b. VA, Arther E., 11 yrs, b. IN, Willia m J., 1/12 mos b. IN. Note* In the manuscripts in the Indiana Historic al Society, I found an Alexander Personett on the muster roll form fo r Company I, I need to go back and find if it was the 9th Indiana Calv ary. This Alexander fits exactly to the birthdate of the one of the mu ster roll, probably the same person. Alexander was married before he m arried Virginia Dunbar. I need to find out to whom, the child Arther a bove belongs to his first marriage.

Virginia came to Indiana probably with her father right before the war .
History of Henry Co., IN:
Alexander Personett, the subject of this sketch was born at Mt. Pleasa nt, Hamilton Co., Ohio, December 25, 1836. His parents, Joseph and Reb ecca Personett moved to Henry Co., Ind., when he was two years of age ; he was reared to farm life and given a liberal common-school educati on. After he was 21 yrs of age, he attended school and taught for seve nteen years. In October 1859, he married Mary Ann Courtney. They live d together until May 20, 1865, when she died of consumption, at the ag e of 25 years. There were two children, Arhtur L., and Lavina Alice, t he latter died at the age of 11 one year and 5 months. In March of 186 7, he married Virginia E. Dunbar, to whom 3 children were born, Lilian , William J., and Ralph. Lilian died in Sept. 1869 at the age of 11 mo nths. In 1866 Mr. Personett joined the Masonic fraternity. In 1874 hew as elected Justice of the Peace for Fall Creek township and served th e term of four years, when he was re-elected by a largely increased ma jority and served about half of the last term, when he resigned on acc ount of removing the township. He moved to Sulphur Springs in the autu mn of 1880 when, upon a recommendation of the citizens, the Commission ers Court appointed him Justice of the Peace for Jefferson township, b ut he respectfully declined, not wishing to serve in that capacity an y longer.
Alexander married Virginia E. Dunbar, daughter of William S. Dunbar and Cynthia DeJarnette, on Mar 5, 1867 in Sulphur Springs, Henry Co., Indiana. (Virginia E. Dunbar was born in 1838 in Mercer Co., VA and died in Probably Henry Co., Indiana.)
Alexander next married Mary Ann Courtney in Oct 1859 in Henry Co., Indiana. (Mary Ann Courtney died on May 20, 1865 in Henry Co., Indiana.)
