bullet  General Notes:

Emigrated from Sweden to New York in 1880. Moved to Wayne, Kansas whe re brother Olof Englund and his family lived. There is information i n the Wayne Register 1885-1887 editions and the Wayne Journal, 1909-19 10 editions, on Hans Hansson and Hans Englund, who we believe was thes ame person.

The first reference I found to Hans Englund was in the Wayne Register , 01 Aug 1885, when Victor Alquist of Clay Center, Kansas visited theE nglund family.

The Wayne Register of 13 June 1885, said that Hanson & Campbell signe d 62 head of fine hogs to Kansas City, Wednesday. This same paper als o mentions that an Atlas of Republic County, showing the entire count y in Townships, sections, half and quarter sections. Giving the nameo f every man owning a foot of land in the County, and where his land i s situated. All the Railroads, towns, rivers, creeks, etc. (KS Histor ical Society, Kansas Collection, Microfilm W 2704)

Wayne Register, 29 Aug 1885, "Campbell & Hanson are the stock buyers o f Wayne. They pay the highest prices and this is one great advantaget o Wayne."
(KS Historical Society, Kansas Collection, Microfilm W 2704)

Wayne Register, 26 Sept 1885, "NOTICE -- We wish it strictly understoo d that we want no hunting on our premises at any time, as we have stoc k that hunters are liable to injure. O & H Englund." (KS Historica l Society, Kansas Collection, Microfilm W 2704)

Wayne Register, 20 Feb 1886, an ad was placed -- Mr. H. Hanson (Englun d), dealer in coal, is always on hand and ready to receive orders forc oal. He handles several kinds of coal, different grades and different prices to suit his custom. If you go to his coal bin and borrow coal , he never says a word (if he don't find it out). Mr. Hanson is hones t and straightforward with all his customers, and is as willing to acc ommodate you as any man. (This ad appeared in the 29 Sept 1887 issue of the Wayne Register, which was the last issue on the microfilm from Republic County Historical Society) (KS Historical Society, Kansas Collection, Microfilm W 2704)

Wayne Register, 17 Feb 1887 - H. Hanson shipped one car of hogs on Fri day, and will ship another tomorrow. Hogs are the highest they have b een in this market for over two years. (KS Historical Society, Kansa s Collection, Microfilm W 2704)

Wayne Register, 17 Mar 1887: Mr. Hanson has had on hand at his stocky ards a curiosity in the shape of a hog. At sic months old, it was coa l black, but took sick and during its sickness lost all its teeth. I t is now a year old and has a new set of teeth, and from being coal bl ack has turned to a blue color. (KS Historical Society, Kansas Coll ection, Microfilm W 2704)

Wayne Register, 07 Apr 1887: Mr. P. Hanson of Hooper, Neb., is visiti ng with his brother, H. Hanson, of Wayne. (KS Historical Society, Ka nsas Collection, Microfilm W 2704)

Wayne Register, 19 May 1887: Rev. Johnson of Scandia and wife, Rev. E kstrom and wife, and Hans Englund and wife, are arranging to go to Min neapolis next month to spend a month in Minnesota. (KS Historical So ciety, Kansas Collection, Microfilm W 2704)
