Lived in Centralia, Oklahoma until he was six years old. At the age o
f six, he moved to a farm near Greenfield, MO. In 1913 he moved to Li ndsay, California.
Newton attended school in Strathmore and was in Boy Scouts, becoming a n Eagle Scout. In his last year of high school, he was on the footbal l team which played Bakersfield for Valley Champions. In those days,t hey played the valley big teams, even Fresno. They lost to Bakersfiel d, but beat everyone else.
He was in the trucking business for several years but later went to wo rk for Strathmore Fats and Oils, becoming Superintendent.
Newton died by suicide in his home in 1957.
