Letter from John B. King, Hardin County, KY to his father William Kin g of Nelson County. The letter was found in Nashville, TN in an old t runk belonging to Abner King, son of William.

Hardin County, October 10, 1821
Dear Honored Father:
I received your letter by Mr. Cash which I should have answered by hi m had I not confidently expected that J. Cash would have attended theA ssociation, but owing to the inclemency of the weather for some timebe fore he could not pay attention to his business which was necessaryto arrange it in proper order for him to leave it. I left home on Sunda y morning and left my family in common health, but there are some case s of sickness in the neighborhood and a great deal between there and h ere, and in this neighborhood there are numbers under sore affliction . I arrived here last evening at dark having been delayed to attend t o some business by the way and received your letter of 2d October info rming me of the state of my business relative the suit vs. Funk's heir s. I was truly sorry that so much trouble and fatigue had involved yo u yet I must acknowledge the strong obligation I am laid under toyou f or your indefatigable attention to the business. I wish to hearfrom y ou as often as every two months at least and as much oftener asyou ma y seem necessary to give me intelligence that may be satisfactory or a dvantageous, direct letters to Hillsborough Post Office, OrangeCounty , which has been lately established in two miles of my house.I will no t omit my duty in writing to you more frequently than I havedone.
Remember my love to my sister and Brother and Family. I am dear fathe r your affectionate son.
