The majority of Scotch historians end the line of the Earls descendin g from the DUFF/MacDUFF bloodlines with the 12th Earl. However, Sir R obert Sibbald in his History of Fife, published 1710, lists a 13th Ear l named Duncan who married Mary ... and died after 1353. Balfour-Pau l in his Scots Peerage says that Isabella, daughter of the 12th Earl o f Fife, was his only child.
Sibbald says that Isabella, recognized the above questioned Duncan ash er brother and the 13th Earl, succeeded to the 14th. In line and thro ugh her marriages to William Ramsay, Thomas Bisert, and Walter Stuart , they became the 14th, 15th, and 16th Earls of Fife.
Isobel married William Ramsay.
Isobel next married Thomas Bisert.
Isobel next married Walter Stuart.
