Richard on the 1850 censu s, Mercer Co., VA, living with William Dunbar, age 19, occ. master car penter. On 1860 census, Henry Co., IN, pp. 317, age 29, born VA, Henr y Co., Jefferson twnshp. Married to Lydia, 3 children were listed. Inc ensus it appears as Victoria, on headstone it appears to be "Victory" Lee Dunbar. Richard and family are buried in Bethal Cemetery northof Sulphur Springs, Indiana (on Cr 300 W road). On 1860 census, HenryCo. , IN, shows Richard's value of real estate at 400, personal property a t 200. Laura, 2 yrs, Victoria 1/2 yrs. One person in household over 2 0 yrs illiterate.

Richard died of typhoid fever in 1863 in near Sulphur Springs, Henry C o. IN. Lydia his wife remarried David Sowash. Richard and Lydia are bu ried in Bethal Cemetery near Sulphur Springs and Honey Creek, Henry Co ., IN - two very large marble stones, with Richard D. Dunbar and Lydi a Sowash engraved on them.
