Obit New Castle Courier, August 1916, MRS. BURGESS DEAD - SUCCUMBS TOI LLNESS OF FIVE YEARS DURATION -
Mrs. Mary Alberta Burgess, age 46, wife of John K. Burgess, died thism orning at 6:30 o'clock at the home of Mrs. D.W. Burgess, on north Elev enth Street, following an illness extending over five years. Although in failing health, Mrs. Burgess' condition did not become critical unt il last Thursday night. Since then her condition had declined rapidly . Mrs. Burgess was born in Mt. Summit and was a lifelong resident ofHe nry County. She was the daughter of John W. Dunbar and Sarah Elizabet h Dunbar. She was reared and received the major part of her education in the Mt. Summit neighborhood. She was united in marriage to John K. Burgess of New Castle on March 14, 1895, and to their union three chil dren were have been born, they are two daughters, Bernice and Edna,an d one son, John D., all of whom reside at home. Besides the immediate family, Mrs. Burgess is also survived by two sisters and a number of m ore distant relatives, all living in Henry county. The sisters areMrs . Caldwell and Mrs. Frank Houchkirch both of New Castle. The funeral w ill be held at the home Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with Rev.Bake r in charge. Interment will take place at Southmound cemetary. Friend s wishing to view the remains may call at the home from 2 to 5 and7 t o 9 p.m. Thursday or from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday.
There are two dates - either August 8 or August 14, 1916, I think tha t she died of T.B., first ill 1911.
