General Notes:
James Pemberton served in the Revolutionary War between 1774 and 1777 , as an officer from Halifax County. He was later appointed the sherif f of Halifax County. James married, about 1761, Edna George, of Caroli ne County. She was the daughter of John George. They must have moved t o Halifax County, when James bought land there in 1767. Joseph DeJarna tt had evidently travelled with him, as he witnessed the deed. They li ved in the north fork of Allen's Creek.
