Will of Mackness Rowlett dated May 24, 1848

I Mackness Rowlett considering the uncertainty of this mortal life an d being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last wil l and testament in manner and form following that is to say.

First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Nancy Rowlett all of m y lands and my negroes on tenements situated lying and being in the st ate and county above written to be used by her as_____?___right durin g her natural life and at her death it is my will and desire that allo f my said lands be equally divided between my beloved wives two younge st children Ann C. Brooks and Zachariah P. Brooks, all of my own child ren viz John H. Rowlett, Joseph Rowlett, Elizabeth Brooks and James Es tes and their heirs having heretofore had all that portion of my estat e which I assigned for them and lastly, as to all the rest residue an d remaining of my personal estate good and chattels of what kind and m atter so ever. I give and bequeath the same to said beloved wife Nanc y Rowlett whom I hereby appoint executor of this my last will and test ament.
